Proposed System

The researchers of the system entitled Workflow Management System aimed to provide a system that would help enhance the performance of transferring documents from department to department. That is why the researchers made some improvement that would address the missing piece of the current system. They are now working an automated system based workflow which can make better, faster and easy processes or passing document from participant to participants.

Project Plan/SDLC Model

For the development of the system, the researchers used the software development cycle (SDLC), the overall process that consists of sic cycles.

First is to determine the requirement. In this cycle the researcher determine whether its software or hardware will be used for the proposed system.

Next is to gather data: this is where the researcher conducts an interview to the management office to gather data that could help for the operation of the system.

Then after that is to analyse the data.  In this cycle the researcher will analysed all the data they gathered, for them to identify the necessary information needed for the development of the proposed system and also to give solutions.

Next will be the phase designing. The researcher will design the system that is related to the future. The specification and operation will detail and some conceptual model of the user requirements will be produced.

After the designing phase, the coding phase starts, in order to build the system, the researchers should perform the last cycle. This is where the researchers will encode all the codes for checking if there is error or the program will be successfully debugged. This last process will ensure if the system is stable or not.

Printer is serving as the developers’ device to print all the files that need to produce hardcopy.  The software requirements are also one of the great requirements because this propose system is a software project so that the software tools that the developers needs to produce the code is the PHP in which for the databases to input and saved the data of the system example the employees profiles, data of the trainings.  The HTML is one of the language of the system its functionality is to create the developers design of the system so that the system will look pleasing to the eyes of the users.  The JavaScript is a language that the system also needs, this language help the developers to create there codes for faster and shorter programs.

This chapter presents the related literature, related studies prior art and synthesis after the thorough and in-depth search done by the researchers.

Personal Health Monitoring (PHM) technologies are currently being developed to supplement medical care environments with health monitoring outside “brick and mortar” settings. A primary factor spurring the development of PHM is the rapid aging of the global population which is predicted to increase the burdens placed on many countries’ healthcare systems, potentially outstripping available medical resources (Agree et al., 2005). Although the elderly are a primary force behind PHM, systems are currently in development for a multitude of audiences of all ages and health. This paper provides a review of the literature relating to the development and implementation of PHM technologies that discusses ethical issues. In the current literature agreement upon a common definition of “Personal Health Monitoring” does not exist, with many synonymous and related terms being used instead including “telecare,” “assistive technologies,” “ambient intelligence,” and “wearable health sensors”.

Monitoring health-related quality of life in paediatric practice: development of an innovative web-based application

Based on the studies of Lotte Haverman and  et.al (2011) The use of Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) in daily clinical practice is receiving increasing attention. PROs include the self-assessment of functional status, symptoms or other concerns, such as patient needs and satisfaction with care. Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) questionnaires are commonly used in clinical trials to collect information about a specific group of patients. These questionnaires retrieve information directly from the patient and are therefore a form of PRO. Today, HRQOL questionnaires are increasingly being used in daily clinical practice, being provided to the physician to facilitate communication with patients during a consultation. The majority of HRQOL studies focuses on oncology and reveals conflicting data in terms of effectiveness. Some adult studies suggest that discussing PROs improves communication between physicians and patients and facilitates early recognition of HRQOL problems. Physicians generally consider the use of PROs as a valuable addition to daily health care. Nevertheless, an improvement in patient satisfaction with care or an increase in scores is still challenging. Web-Based Integrated Public Healthcare Information System of Korea: Development and Performance

According to Seewon Ryu, PhD. and et.al (2013) The Web-based integrated public healthcare information system (PHIS) of Korea was planned and developed from 2005 to 2010, and it is being used in 3,501 regional health organizations. This paper introduces and discusses development and performance of the system. The integrated PHIS included 19 functional business areas, 47 detailed health programs, and 48 inter-organizational tasks. The new PHIS improved the efficiency and effectiveness of the business process and inter-organizational business, and enhanced user satisfaction. Economic benefits were obtained from five categories: labor, health education and monitoring, clinical information management, administration and civil service, and system maintenance.

The system was certified by a patent from the Korean Intellectual Property Office and accredited as an ISO 9001. It was also reviewed and received preliminary comments about its originality, advancement, and business applicability from the Patent Cooperation Treaty. It has been found to enhance the quality of policy decision-making about regional healthcare at the self-governing local government level. PHIS, a Web-based integrated system, has contributed to the improvement of regional healthcare services of Korea. However, when it comes to an appropriate evolution, the needs and changing environments of community-level healthcare service and IT infrastructure should be analyzed properly in advance.

Our goal was to identify precursor behaviors associated with specific medical conditions. We refer to the proposed solution as the Search Log Analysis for Precursor Behaviors (SLAPB) method, which involves a three-staged process. First, we identified a population of users who were likely to have a medical condition of interest as well as the date this was first acknowledged. Second, we generalized user queries into categories. Finally, we analyzed users’ query streams to find likely precursor behaviors. In the following, we describe the three stages. Studies on Web Based Patient Support System for Health Monitoring and Quality of Life

According to Gayathri V Panicker and et.al (2014) Web-based Patient Support Systems (WPSS) are an emerging multidisciplinary research area in which one studies the support of human activities with the web as the common platform, medium and interface. One of the goals of WPSS research is to extend the human physical limitation of information processing. The availability, accessibility and flexibility of information as well as the tools to access this information lead to a vast amount of opportunities. It also examines how applications and adaptations of existing methodologies on the web platform benefit our decisionmaking and other various activities. This study proposes a web-based database system of patients’ information repository for effective and timely access to information when and where it is needed. The design uses the three-tier web model architecture as its underlying technology and presents an architectural design for a centralized information database system, which will save time in accessing patients’ health information and hence prompt healthcare delivery will be achieved for the health industries.(www.isaet.org)

HealthFace: A web-based remote monitoring interface for medical healthcare systems based on a wireless body area sensor network

According to Ismail KIRBAS and C¨uneyt BAYILMIS (2012) The wireless body area sensor network (WBASN) is a type of wireless sensor network. The wireless sensor nodes in a WBASN are placed on, near, or within a human body. In a medical healthcare system, WBASNs continuously provide healthcare monitoring, especially of elderly or ill people, wherever the patient goes. Wireless nodes sense and process human vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and respiration. They then send collected data to a medical center via a base station in order for medical professionals to monitor the patient’s health. In the medical center, doctors and caregivers need monitoring systems or interfaces to process, analyze, and visualize the received data from WBASN-based systems. In this paper, we present a web-based remote monitoring interface, HealthFace, for medical healthcare systems based on a WBASN. Users can easily access the developed HealthFace via any Internet-connected device, such as a PC, PDA, laptop, or cell phone, without needing any special software or programs except for a web browser. In addition, the implemented HealthFace presents several features, including recording, displaying, and analyzing collected data from the sensor nodes using MATLAB Builder NE with Web Figure. Web Figure enables users to utilize 3-dimensional view, zoom, and movement functions.

This paper presents a web-based remote monitoring interface, called HealthFace, using MATLAB Builder NE with Web Figure for WBASN-based medical healthcare systems in order to monitor the medical status of patients and the elderly. Users can easily access the developed interface via any device, such as a PC, laptop, PDA, or mobile phone connected to the Internet, without needing any special software or programs except for a web browser. The implemented HealthFace also provides several features, including the ability to record, analyze, and display collected data from sensor nodes. Electronic patient records

According to this site (2011) Electronic patient records (EPRs) have been introduced in many countries in recent years. They have the potential to improve many aspects of clinical practice, including prescribing, patient follow-up, chronic disease management, and adherence to clinical guidelines. However, there are also potential challenges, including underestimation of time commitment by physicians, the need for expensive ongoing technical support, and concerns about the maintenance of patient confidentiality.

With increasing availability and reliability of Inter-net access globally, there is recognition that EPRs could also contribute significantly to improved patient care in resource-limited areas. Although there are practical problems with establishing EPR systems in such settings, many can be overcome simply, for example, through the use of solar batteries where power supplies are unreliable, or through limiting the number of computers networked to a web-based central database. Where computerized records are available, web-based systems have significant advantages over locally held patient databases, many of which rapidly become overwhelmed by large amounts of patient information and are user-unfriendly and unwieldy. Fraser et al reviewed a number of systems in use in Africa, and Central and South America, and described the benefits of such systems. These included:

  • clear documentation of clinical notes
  • reduced consultation and waiting times
  • decision support for prescribing medications, including reminders, allergy warnings, and information about drug interactions
  • alerts for abnormal laboratory results
  • facilitation of data provision for national outcome monitoring.

Systems developed locally are often adaptable for use in other geographic areas. The eChasqui system, for example, was transferred successfully from Peru to the Philippines,26 and has subsequently been implemented in over 40 countries as the Open Medical Record System.

EPRs range from simple systems for storing locally entered patient data to more complex systems with links to other data sources relating to the patient, for example, digital radiology images, and laboratory and pharmacy information systems. In addition, they may facilitate other aspects of patient care, for example, through incorporation of clinical decision support. Synthesis

The related literature and studies provides a great base on the proposal of Web-based Health System. There were a lot of related studies discussed the Web based application and Information System regarding the Health monitoring and also discussed the transition of manual system into the automated system. But the study aims to develop a web based health and welfare monitoring with medicine inventory, moreover the related studies will serve as the guidelines to the researchers on how to develop a system with the unique features which will help the Health Personnel and residents to monitor the all cases of disease.

Interviews to the management will be conducted by the researchers and will gather data or information for the system. Third is analysing data. To be able to identify the required information needed in the development of the system and viable solution to it, those data analysed by the researchers was being analysed. Fourth, phase is designing. The system will be designed by the researchers and will specify the desire features. The conceptual model of user requirements whose block of codes where produced and defined its specification and operation in detail. A systematic approach is used to create a design by application of set of techniques and guidelines. Fifth is coding. Encoding codes is done by the researchers and with the help of a technical expert to debug the program and to check if there are errors. To determine the reliability of the system an incorrect data is used to test the system. Also part of it is maintaining the system.

High population rates have led to the replacement of traditional systems of soil treating into continuous cultivation and to the depletion of nutrients through the removal of crop residues prior to planting, leaching and soil erosion. Crop growth is mostly limited by NPK. Inorganic fertilizers can restore soil fertility but are unaffordable for the small-scale farmers living with small income per month. Compost systems have been developed to reduce the costs of inorganic fertilizer and restore soil fertility in the long term (Dr. Baert et al., 2014).

The study highlights the importance of inorganic fertilizer rather than organic fertilizer though both fertilizers are effective in the increase of crop production, generally product farm land products. To minimize the cost of expensive manures and fertilizer, farmers should be aware of the present nutrient in a soil. Adequate NPK information of the soil will help the respondent to lessen the cost of buying fertilizer, because the respondent will determine the only amount of the fertilizer needed by the soil.

The effects of organic amendments avoid the application of high levels of chemical fertilizers. The inclusion of cover crops or green manures can also enhance the efficient nutrients obtain by plants. Soil fertility will also be improved with organic waste application such as by-products of farming, or municipal activities including animal manures, food processing wastes and municipal bio solids, wastes from some industries, such as sewage sludge’s, wastewaters, husks and vines’.

Another importance of organic matter and soil nutrients, and their use in agriculture can contribute to the natural ecological cycles as well (Diacono et al., 2010).

The study “EFFECTS OF BIOFERTILIZERS COMBINED WITH DIFFERENT SOIL AMENDMENTS”, state that the effect of the combined application of two commercial Fertilizer and EM (Effective Microorganisms) on agricultural land is growth and yield in soils amended with farmyard manure, green manure, and NPK fertilizers (Arshad Javai, 2011).

The study will be a basis for the macro-nutrient content as a factor that increase the soil fertility and result of higher production of farm product, the main reason for the significance of the soil macro-nutrient namely as, nitrogen, phosphorus and Potassium.

Measurement of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium (NPK) contents of soil is necessary to decide how much extra contents of these nutrients are to be added in the soil to increase crop fertility. This improves the quality of the soil which in turn yields a good quality crop. A study colorimetric measurement of soil has been carried out that determine color to identify adequate color. The researchers conceptualize a study that will help in determining the NPK amount as high, medium, low, very low or none, comparing the corresponding nutrient color using color sensor.  The sensor prove along with proper signal conditioning circuits is built to detect the efficient color of an object (Kulkari et al, 2015).

Modern tool for preserving and replenishing soil nutrient is very significant in terms of adequate result and effective solution in increasing farm growth. Hence, the researchers will conduct a study and develop a system that will help the respondent yield substantial effect in their livelihood.

When sunlight hits the surface of the crop or soil, the light will be reflected, absorbed, or transmitted, depending on the wavelength of the light and the characteristics of the contacted body and there are three methods to sense primary nutrients which are Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium (NPK) in the soil a study intensively investigated and proven that modern tool is important in agricultural management (Moghaddam et al. and Li et al., 2010).

“Integrated High Resolution Digital Color Light Sensor in 130 nm CMOS Technology”, present a color light detection system a sensor and corresponding electronics light using a chip and integrated sensor that converts analog-to-digital RGB color resolution (Strle et al., 2015). Therefore, the use of the system will be operationally trend in determining the soil status and condition which is possible in determining its NPK by providing a sample which uses soil test tool kit as a part of color sensor in calculating the equivalent nutrient of a particular soil.

Synthesis

The above-mentioned related literature, studies, and prior arts are all about the importance of NPK in soil and on how to monitor these components properly. With our proposed project, we will be able to help our agriculture sector to properly monitor, record, and archive the NPK content of the soil which is very vital for growing the plants and other agricultural products. The target of this project is to be able to design and develop a mobile application of recording and archiving of NPK soil content and with the information gathered from the above mentioned studies it will really help the researchers to aim their targets and objectives.

Project Plan/SDLC

As operating the system, the researchers used the software development cycle (SDLC), the overall process that consists of six cycles. First, the researchers determine all the requirements that are needed for the developing of the system. The researcher will determine whether its hardware or software will be used in the system. After determining all the requirements for creating this system, now proceeds to gather relevant information; they will conduct an interview to the management. After gathering all the necessary information for the system, it is the time to analyse the data; this is where the researcher analyses the data to identify all the information needed for the development of the system. After that, the designing of the system, will takes place, in this cycle the researchers will design the system regarding to the requirement that specified, this is where the design is created in detailed. After the designing process, the coding phase will start. The last cycle, to finally build the system, the researcher should perform the last cycle, this is where they will encodes all the code for checking for the errors and debugging to know if it’s successful or not.

Hardware needed for the System

Arduino is a microcontroller that is used to sense the environment by receiving input from the sensor and can affect its surrounding. It is a prototyping platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software that can read inputs.

Float Switch is a device used to detect the level of liquid. The purpose of a float switch is to open or close a circuit as the level of a liquid rises or falls.

GSM Shield is used to transmitting the data from sensors to the PC System through wireless transmission. It is a specialised type of modem that operates over subscription based wireless networks which are similar to a mobile phone. It accepts a SIM card and basically acts like a mobile phone for the computer. It sends and receives data through radio waves.

Mobile Phones is a portable telephone that can make and receive calls or text over a radio frequency carrier. Android is a smartphone operating system developed by Google and it is used to run a mobile application.

Laptop/Computer is a device that accepts information use for the development of the system.

Software Needed for the System

The proposed system is intended using the following software application in developing the system.

WampServer refers to a software stack for the Microsoft Windows operating system, created by Romain Bourdon and consisting of the Apache web server, OpenSSL for SSL support, MySQL database and PHP programming language.

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) that would be used for the design of the system, PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) is a server-side scripting language that’s used for web development and also used as a general-purpose programming language.

MySQLFront for the query, researchers used a client for Windows that allowed for the management, to manage a local or remote Database through a client interface. Researchers would like to focus the attention a little on a functionality of MySQLFront and that is the ability to load, import and export databases of significant dimensions without losing data or getting errors.

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are a stylesheet language used to describe the presentation of a document written in HTML or XML. CSS describes how elements should be rendered on screen, on paper, in speech, or in other media.

JavaScriptis classified as a prototype-based scripting language with dynamic typing and has first class functions. This mix of features makes it a multi-paradigm language, supporting object-oriented, imperative and functional programming styles. Despite same naming, syntax and standard library similarities, JavaScript and Java are otherwise unrelated and have very different semantics.

C++ is used for coding in Arduino. It is a general purpose object-oriented programming language. It is considered to be an intermediate-level language, as it encapsulates both high and low-level language features.

Notepad++ is a text editor and source code editor for Windows, opens large files significantly. The project’s name comes from the C increment operator.

Google Chrome serves as a browser and intranet for the connection only within the organization.

How the System works

  1. The administrator will encode first the list of jail officer in-charge in the facility. There will be a schedule of duty for the utilization of the attendance system.
  2. The jail officer can now encode the list of inmates and visitors information.
  3. The visitor will be given an ID card with barcode that will be used in the attendance/visit.
  4. The report of visit logs can be printed out by the administrator of the system.

Hardware Compatibility

The system is compatible in different kind of computer desktop or laptop with a minimum hardware specification of Intel Pentium Dual Core or AMD Athlon Dual Core , Motherboard compatible with the socket of processor, 500gb hard drive, 1gb Ram, USB keyboard, USB mouse, UTP Cable for network, Router, 15.6 inches LED monitor and Barcode Reader/Scanner.

Software Compatibility

The system will work and develop in a computer with an operating system of Windows 7 or 8. The system will use WAMP as application for the database of the system because of the package that include the Apache server, MySQL, and PHP. With the above presented concerns, the HR department is about to embrace computerization to solve their problems on task speedy accomplishment without comprising accuracy results.  So, the researchers proposed the Online Teacher Evaluation System.  It is web-based tools that will be designed according to the specifications and requirements of the school.

The purpose of the study is to improve, develop, and implement the proposed system that will help the organization in developing Online Teacher Evaluation System.  It presents a new aspect of developing the study including on the different services.  Through using Tablets to survey, it can make the school effective and efficient in terms of technology.

The researcher used the Rapid Application Development model for the proposed system. By undergoing to each phase of RAD Model, the researcher has to find the idea of what are the needs of the respondents that the researcher must provide through the use of the proposed system. As what the researcher had observed, the process of conducting and report generation is manual. However, the researcher decided to propose a system entitled Online Teacher Evaluation System whereas, through this system the process of conducting evaluation up to the reports generation will be automated. Through the help of technology specifically the Internet, the researcher will create an online application to which the Students will have to create an account. For the students, they will create an account in order to evaluate their teachers online. For the teachers, they will create an account for them to view their rating. The administrator account will come from the HR department for they are the department in charge for this type of school work.

Recommendations

Based on the findings and conclusions drawn, the following recommendations are put forward:

  1. The Human Resource Department will consider implementing the system to properly execute the tedious process of evaluation; however, it requires training to the end-users on how to use the system.
  2. It is also recommended that similar study may be conducted to assess further the effectiveness and usefulness of the developed system.

The project entitled car rental system is a platform that showcases cars available for rent. It is an information system that enables the car owners to post and published the information of their cars for rent and for the customers to browse available cars they want to rent that will serve to their needs.

Software Compatibility (Development stage)

This system runs on a desktop computer with an operating system of either Windows 10 or 8. The system uses UWAMP server as an application for the database of the system which includes the package of Apache Server, MySQL. The system develops using PHP, CSS, Ajax, HTML, JavaScript and Java.

Hardware Compatibility

The system is compatible in different kind of desktop computer and laptop with the minimum hardware specification Intel Celeron, motherboard compatible with Quad Core Processor, 4GB RAM, 64 bit OS,CPU N3160 in 1.60GHz and USB mouse.

Test Plan

To test the system, the researchers asked three IT Experts to verify further the reliability and functionality of the developed system. Three IT Experts performed series of testing to check for any possible problem that may occur during implementation and operations of the software and to test wether the specification has met. They tested and evaluated the following: the program design for its objectivity, validity, effectiveness, and completeness of the system. McCall’s Software Quality Model Standard was used measuring tool in the Expert Testing.

Login Form – this module will be used by the administrators, moderators, customers and car owners to access the system and perform their specific task/action based on their user role.

Car Information Management – this module of the system is used for encoding/updating the car information. Information of the car includes the model, color, capacity, rate of rental and the availability of the car. Car Gallery – the system will allow you to upload multiple images of the car and those images will be stored and viewed in the car gallery module of the system. JAVA SCRIPT: Java script can interact with the HTML source code enabling Web authors to spice up their site with dynamic content. Java script is endorsed by a number of software companies and is an open language that anyone can use.

XAMPP: A free and open source cross-platform web server package, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP Server, MySQL database, and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages (quora.com).

Current Technology

The current process of archiving the documents is done manually using the folder and cabinet method which seems to be stressful if you have a lot of documents to be arranged and archived, aside from that searching and locating of documents is also a major concern.

With the specified issue about the manual process, it is strongly recommended to design and develop an information system that is efficient in the archiving process of documents.

How the project works

The system can be accessed by three user groups which are the administrator, department head, and secretary. Each and every user type has its own scope and privilege; administrator can access every features of the system and conduct system and database maintenance, the department head can review and revise the compiled files by the secretary, and the secretary is the one who scans the document and save the scanned docs to the system for filing purposes.

The secretary will login to the system, scans a document, save the document and attached a barcode to the document for easy retrieval and filing. The secretary can also arrange the files by folders based on their purpose and category. Department head can view the documents and update the necessary changes if ever.

Revisions may be requested by the client in order to conform it to their business needs and requirements.

System Implementation

The proposed system entitled Barcode Based Document Control and Management System will be presented to the end user. The researcher will be providing questionnaire to the end user to answer difficulties that might be encountered upon operating the system. Also the user can provide suggestions and recommendations to the proponents to further enhance the system.

Project Plan/SDLC

In this study, the researcher’s uses SDLC model, consist the six cycles which are: determining the project requirement, gathering of data, analyzing of data, system design and the coding phase.

First, is determining the requirements. It is where the researcher determines the requirements of the proposed system, whether software or hardware is to be used.

Second cycle is to gather data. This is where the researchers will conduct interviews to the management office in order for them to gather relevant data for the operation of the system. After gathering the data, it is time for them to analyses it.

Third cycle is to analyze. The researchers analyze the data for them to be able to identify the necessary information needed for the development of the proposed system to give some solutions.

Next cycle will be the phase designing, the researchers designed the system relating to the desire future. Specification and operation in detail and some conceptual model of the user requirements where produced.

The last cycle will be the coding. The researcher will encode all the codes with the helping hand of the technical expert to check if it has error or the program will debug successfully. They under goes testing using incorrect data, in order for them to determine the reliability of the system. Maintaining the system is also part of it.

The population of the study contains of fifty Agriculture students as the respondents of the study that will use the said system. The respondents, give their own ratings about on how the systems performed properly, and if they really useful instructional tool. Through population study the researchers know the results in the sides of the users by giving appropriate ratings/scores from the developed system.

Significance of the study

The following individuals or groups will benefit from this system:

Teachers/instructors: Teachers or instructor can now make announcement clearly, they can post their materials or syllable and visible by students. They can also make classes, where in if there an unexpected situation to happen they can still continue on their classes.

Students: since this is for agriculture courses, students are merely focusing on agriculture works, they would have a practicum exams, where in all the requirement for the exams are physically perform. For them to be able still perform writing or paper assignments they can now perform on this system and in terms of passing they will only post it on the system.

Project Plan/SDLC

In operating the system, the proponents used the software development cycle (SDLC), the overall process that consists of six cycles.

First phase of the cycle is to determine the requirement. This is where the choosing of requirements occurs, whether software or hardware will be used.

Second phase is to gather data: this is where the interview occurs; the researchers will conduct interviews to some participants that would help to improve the proposed system.

Third phase is to analyse the data.  The researchers will analyse the data gathered, to determine the necessary information for the development for the proposed system. This is also the time to give feasible solutions.

Fourth phase will be the phase designing. The researcher will design the system that is related to the future. The specification and operation will detail and some conceptual model of the user requirements will be produced.

Fifth or the last phase will be the coding; this is where the debugging process will be done to ensure that the operation of the system will be stable.

Development Tools

The researcher will install the software XAMMP. XAMMP is an easy to use multi-platform package that installs Apache, MySQL, PHP and a wall stew of the other software useful for dynamic web development. Installation is painless, and configuration is minimal. It is important to have software programs relevant to the demand of the system which required Hypertext Mark-up Language (HTML) for the web design, permanent Hypertext Pre-processor file (PHP) for the SQL, XAMMP for the connection, Mozilla Firefox as the browser and Intranet for the connection within the organization. The project entitled course management system for agriculture uses modern web standards like HTML5 and JavaScript to deliver a powerful and elegant user experience using the web. For this to work properly a reasonably modern web browser that is designed to support these popular web standards needs to be used. Browser upgrades are free, and each new version tends to be faster and better than its predecessor, so it is a good idea to keep the browser up to date.

Flow of the project

The project will be installed in the server of ICT wherein the computer laboratories used by the agriculture students are connected. This is the option if the internet is down.

The teachers are allowed to upload any form of learning materials such as word document, PowerPoint presentation and even videos. Teachers can also create an assessment in a form of quiz (usually in a form of multiple choices). Recording of scores on test, exam and attendance are also part of the system which makes it a complete eLearning platform.

Students can view the lecture materials uploaded by their teacher, can also take up a quiz and even upload assignments. Another feature that the system offers is that the students can also view their raw scores on exam, test and quizzes.

Rapid Application Development Model

The developers recommends to use RAD (Rapid Application Development) model which involves the different stages wherein it is accessible because the processes can proceed to the other stage even if the first process has not yet been completed.

RAD (Rapid Application Development) model is based on prototyping and iterative development with no specific planning involved. The process of writing the software itself involves the planning required for developing the product. Testing

In this part, the comments and feed backs are being tested after it was implemented to the three experts in building a system and to the respective users. There are some suggestions from the client to the developer of the system that needs to be improved.

Implementation

In this section, it explains the implementation of the proposed system wherein the three experts evaluates the system in terms of its functionality features and the security factors. It discusses if the gaps of the existing system are solved as well as the requirements and needs of the users as well as clients.

That’s why the researchers developed this system to help the student in their lessons in history subjects. They can use the system to search for specific topics they needed. They wouldn’t need to scan in thick history books just to find what they are searching for.

This system is very helpful both for students and history teachers. Thus, this system will be presented to the end users. The researchers will be providing questionnaire to them to be answered. Also they can note the difficulties they might encounter upon operating the system. The end users also can provide their suggestion and recommendations to the proponents to further improve the system.

Objectives of the Study

Teachers. If this system will carry out successfully, this will help teachers lighten their loads of works. They would not worry a lot if they can’t provide hands out for their students because their students would just access the system and then they would find their lessons.

Students. This would be a great help to them especially that history classes has a lot of learning’s to do. They will have an accessible online platform for their history subject.

Proponents. If this system will be successful, this will contribute to the knowledge of the proponents.

Scope and Limitation

The capstone project entitled Online Platform for History Subject focused on how to encouraged students to study and learn history related topics using the technology specifically the internet. The said project is composed of learning materials in a form of multimedia presentation, animation and in video format to make the topics interesting and catchy. The student will be able to login to their accounts and navigate to the different parts of the platform such as the lesson modules, video modules and test modules. With this type of process, it will be very convenient on the part of the students since they can review the topics anytime they want as long as they are connected online.

However, this study is intended only for all students with history subjects. User is required to register their profile in order for the application to save and update the activities of the user.  Since it is an online platform, they need to be connected to the internet to access and navigate the project/system.

Project Plan/SDLC

The researcher of this project made use of Software Development Life Cycle consisting of six steps.

First, the researchers determine the requirements needed for the system. The researcher will decide what hardware and software will be use in the system. After the researchers determine the project requirements, it is time for them to talk to the management office to gather information and important details needed for the system. Right after gathering information the researchers will analyze the data to determine the necessary information needed for the system. Once, the researchers have the clear and detailed product requirements, it is time to design the complete system. The system design will have the understanding and detailing the complete hardware and communication setup for the product under development. Lastly, after designing the system the coding phase will start. The coding is performed based on the coding guidelines and standards. The code goes through numerous code reviews and is optimized for best performance before the final building of the system.

Introduction of the Study

The researchers of the system named Touch screen based coin operated water dispenser aimed to provide a platform not just for making automated water dispenser which is coin operated but to provide a classier water dispenser which is more valuable today. This system is touch screen based which the users can have lot options in terms of choosing the desired water they want. The options will be presented is not visible to the current dispenser that we usually see in every neighborhood.

The current system which is only provides one factor and one output. The proposed system will no longer be providing only one option for the user. The system is improving the current system. Touch screen based because all options will be display on the screen so that the user will have the option to choose what they desire to drink, whether it’s cold, warm or hot. If ever there are leaked coin, user will only press anything from the screen so that the problem will be solve.

In terms of money, if user’s doesn’t have a coin, they can still enter a money bill, they will only type in the screen the price so that the machine will provide change. All the possible transaction just like, prices, change, options will be given.

The proposed system was presented for the end users. This is for providing a lot of options and to not make a boring water dispenser. This system will more modernize and superb improve water dispenser.  For the certainty of this project the researchers will provide questionnaire to be answered by the end users, they will also provide clarifications and difficulties that might appears in operating or in development  of the system.

Objectives of the study

  • To design and develop an Arduino based touch screen operated water dispenser.
  • To create a feature that will count the number of coins inserted and send a report to the owner of the water dispenser.
  • The system will be the new platform that could provide not just one but lot of option to the users’ even it is just machine for water.
  • To make a new, modernize and efficient water dispenser.

Significance of the study

Owners: one benefit they can gain is that a customer’s trust, loyalty and happiness. If ever they implement a system like this, then they makes users life easy and valuable, they made them experience out of the best. The system will also send a report on the number of coins inserted.

Future Researchers. The concept demonstrated may be used as source of data in conducting new researches or in testing the validity of other related findings. This system will guide the researchers who would like to conduct study. This study will also serve as their cross-reference that will give them an overview about the system.

System Design and Methodology

The researchers selected the Rapid Application Development for the progress of the “Touch Screen Based Coin Operated Water Dispenser” process model in the system development life cycle used to refer to discretion the conventional waterfall model. This model includes the requirements, analysis, and documentation on the different stages such as data analysis and quick design, system design, prototype cycle, testing and deployment.

Analysis and Quick Design phase

In this phase, the researchers with the client and respondent will give a privilege to suggest and request on how the system design, the researchers must plan and analyse every requirement, uses and activities needed for the development of the system. It is included here the preparation of questionnaire, interview and the different procedure which is the data gathering.

Data Analysis

The researchers analysed the data that was obtained from the initial data gathering. The analysed data will used towards the design and development of the system, thus making sure that all recommendations of the end-user were met.

System Phase

The researchers started to develop the proposed system. It includes the design or layout of how the system would look like based on the user requirements, and researchers/programmer would also add personal design to make the system more interactive and useful.

Prototype Cycle

This phase of rapid application includes demonstrating, refinement and developing. After the analysis of the gathered data, the researchers had started the system development which was based on the recommendations from the end-users. After the prototype has been developed, demonstration of the system was done to the end-users. If there are some recommendations after the demonstration, the system will be refined based on the results from the demonstration.

Testing

At this point, the whole design and its construction is put under a test to check its functionality. If there are any errors, then they will surface at this point of the process.

Deployment/Implementation

In this phase of integration, the client puts it in use after the system has been successfully tested.
